Simple Wonders: The Disarming Pleasure of Looking Beyond the Seen

Christopher De Vinck. Zondervan Publishing Company, $12.99 (191pp) ISBN 978-0-310-49891-9

Four years after his Only the Heart Knows How to Find Them (Penguin) collection of short homespun observations, de Vinck once again offers similar, but more pointedly Christian, vignettes centering on relationships, family and God. The author, a public school teacher at the time of this writing (he is an administrator now), proves to be an extremely close observer of human nature. This is truly an emotionally satisfying book that most readers, regardless of their spiritual inclinations, will find rewarding. A prediction: those who discover de Vinck through this book will hasten to find copies of his earlier work. (Sept.)
