Dravecky, a southpaw pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, gave fans a horrible scare when he broke his left arm on the mound during a game. Playing again after cancer surgery on that arm, he was considered to have experienced an almost miraculous recovery, a story he told in Comeback. But the fracture to his arm, compounded by a second break, signalled the return of his cancer and led to the eventual amputation of that arm. This book is the story of that ordeal for him and the incapacitating bouts of depression suffered by his wife, but, more than that, it is a testimony to the profound religious faith that sustained them both.
