Timeless Towns: And Haunted Places: From Florida to Maine

America's architectural past is quickly disappearing, yet there are still places tucked away, off the main roads or in pockets of the larger cities, that appear as they did at the turn of the century or before. It is to these places that Humphreys, author of several books on travel, invites the reader. Armed with old maps, he and his wife traveled from Florida to Maine, finding individual structures, neighborhoods and occasionally entire towns that seem untouched by the passage of time. It is a leisurely tour that includes any number of anecdotal side trips, notably of a toilet-fushing ghost and a 300-year-old report of a UFO sighting.
