Serious golfers will appreciate the passages here about the weight and pitch of club heads and the problem of choosing the proper club for the best shot; general readers will be put off by such technical matters. And those who enjoy watching golf on TV will be interested in the revelations about the players, their caddies and their families. If the book has any more general appeal, it lies in the suspense created as Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle sports reporter Maiorana follows top-20 golfer Davis Love through the 1992 L.A. Open at the Riviera Country Club, a tournament which ended in a playoff between Love and Fred Couples (Couples won). Photos not seen by PW. (May)
