My First ABC Book

An inviting ABC book designed for family sharing, this is highlighted by cartoony, black crayon line drawings awash in color. A boy in overalls and a tiger in a T-shirt (marked ""T'') are on a alphabetic adventure; most letters are presented in two-page spreads. The letter A includes anchor, ant, apple and abacus. Other letters like G, H, I, J, K and L are shown on single pages. There are the occasional surprise additions of more elaborate two-page spreads throughout, illustrating such letters and concepts as ``M for magic,'' ``J for jungle'' and ``W for winter.'' Although this is an import from England, Briticisms are minimal and won't dissuade American parents from adding this attractive and economical edition to the alphabet shelf. Ages 3-6. (April)
