This gorgeous coffee-table book gathers the work of 60 people in the field of landscape architecture, ranging from the some of the established, recognizable names and projects to some of the newest and most obscure. The selection process began with 30 of the more prominent architect who were each asked to choose one up-and-coming architect to contribute. Some of the masters included in the book are James Corner, who designed The High Line in New York City, and Andrew Grant, acclaimed for his work on Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. Emerging architects include Yi Kyu Choe, whose massive Overpeck County Park in New Jersey won't be completed until 2024. Kombol's descriptions of the architects and their work vary in their insights, from the profound to the mundane, but the focus on each artist includes nice little lists such as each architect's favorite trees, favorite plants, and favorite contemporary artists. Kombol, a practicing landscape architect herself, gives equal due to finished projects and conceptual designs, but it is the photos of actual, completed spaces that truly captivate. 750 color illus.
