Truth or Demon

Humor punctuates this agreeably entertaining if uninspired paranormal. Sexy demon Killian O'Brien is abruptly summoned into the mortal realm by a trio of teenage girls led by precocious Daisy Reed, who wants him to find a boyfriend for her older sister. Poppy Reed has raised Daisy since the death of their parents, rejecting any thoughts of a love life in favor of a quiet, mouse-like existence. Nevertheless, she appeals to Killian, and their attraction simmers for pages of nicely held tension before exploding into hot sex. Along the way, they battle personal hangups, predatory rivals, and the silly antics of adolescent interference. Several sections are from Daisy's point of view, in a refreshing change from the typical he said/she said format. While pleasantly diverting, the story is hampered by overused plot devices, unresolved character flaws, and a boilerplate feel lacking pizzazz. (Mar.)
