In Artemis Awakening, Griffin rediscovered the long-lost pleasure planet Artemis%E2%80%94by crash-landing on it. Having befriended natives Adara and Terrell, Griffin now pursues his original plan to find the power source used by the terraformers who built Artemis up from bare rock. The friends are also fleeing the Old One Who Is Young, a native whose life has been unnaturally extended. When they unexpectedly find the technology that they seek, it only seems to bring up more questions: why the artificial intelligence of the planet can't see the land surrounding the Old One's hidden military base; why the computer Leto, which controls the base, is keeping secrets; and who else might be en route from beyond the stars. Though the pacing can be a little slow, this tale of adventure is a light and entertaining read that primarily sets things up for continued conflict in the next installment.
