Something to Talk About

Dakota Cassidy. Mira, $7.99 mass market (448p) ISBN 978-0-7783-1627-5

Cassidy follows Talk Dirty to Me with a sassy story of a young woman looking to spice up her life. Emmaline Amos’s husband leaves her for another woman and a new life as a cross-dresser. Em decides it’s time to shed her dull image and flirt with hottie Jax Hawthorne, inspired by what she hears while working as a manager at a phone sex company. Jax is focused on providing a stable home environment for his daughter Maizy, but he’s also intrigued by Em and her request for a no-strings affair. Between passionate and fun love scenes, Em struggles to cope with an ex who avoids stressful situations, an unkind mother, the town’s cruel queen bee, and her older son’s own difficulty dealing with the divorce. Though Em’s story isn’t quite as much of a heartstring-tugger as the first installment, readers will cheer her on as Jax supports her in gathering the courage to buck expectations and be herself.
