Mrs. Noah, the warm-hearted, faithful spouse of her ark-builder husband, took plenty of flack from her contemporaries, according to Figley's entertaining depiction. Still, she kept on working, tending to the family, the garden, and the ever-increasing number of animals Noah gathered for their nautical journey. She stayed with Noah to the world's watery demise and helped him joyously usher in their new beginning. Figley's book embellishes what little we know of Mrs. Noah's life and her influence. Each page features a watercolor-like painting that nearly tells the story independently. Youngsters reading this as a lap book will likely find much to smile about in the funny, heart-warming illustrations of Mrs. Noah's trials and tribulations. Ages 4-8. (Mar.)
