Farm Day

In these companion volumes, glowing illustrations and minimal text guide youngsters through these intriguing environments. The verso of each spread presents one or two sentences describing the activities of various animals--and the farmer, who ``drives his big red tractor.'' Also on the farm, a rooster crows (nearby chicks block their ears), pigs chow down at their trough, ducks splash through puddles, horses gallop and, true to their nature, ``the goats eat all the flowers in the garden.'' In the jungle, monkeys cavort, hippos wallow and ``parrots fly in and out of the treetops.'' Henley's verdant landscapes and tropical-hued animals are outlined in white, giving her lustrous illustrations an almost electric quality. Each of these sunny books depicts an invitingly tranquil, colorful day. Ages 2-6. (May)
