While on a research excursion in southern Ohio, Nichole Swan, a divorced schoolteacher, finds herself sucked back in time to the year 1813. When Nikki wakens in the presence of a handsome Indian warrior who claims to be Tecumseh's twin brother, Silver Thorn, she is convinced that someone is playing a joke. That thought is quickly dispelled, however, when Thorn demonstrates his magical powers and informs Nikki that she has been brought back for a purpose--she is to foretell the future of his brother, Tecumseh, and their Shawnee tribe. As a history teacher, Nikki knows that, in the year 1813, Tecumseh doesn't have long to live and that much of the Shawnee tribe will suffer and die on the Trail of Tears. But does she dare to interfere in the course of history? Hart has a good story, but she tries too hard to create spunk in her heroine and the result is more brass than sass. The soft-spoken, shaman hero seems a total mismatch for the bold and audacious heroine. (Dec.)
