What Do I Eat?

Kate Taylor. Bedrick, $6.95 (0pp) ISBN 978-0-87226-506-6

Taylor's snappy board book demands--and will easily draw--reader participation. Each spread features a different creature (horse, rabbit, spider, etc.), which introduces itself (``I am a cat'') and then poses the eponymous question. What distinguishes this board book is the format: its spreads are die-cut to reveal entries on a picture wheel set into the final page. Thus the dog can be offered bones (or lettuce or cheese or, for that matter, hay, flies or worms). If Taylor's illustrations are unexceptional, vibrant backgrounds of different colors add oomph, and the clever concept more than compensates. Ages 2-up. (Aug.)
