In a beautifully simple and clear fashion conducive to contemplative prayer, Bradley shares selections of Julian of Norwich's visions, all of which appeared to the 14th-century English anchoress after she received the last rites on her supposed deathbed near the end of a severe illness. Recovering, Julian spent the next 20 years praying and meditating on her visions before sharing them completely with the world. Bradley, a professor emerita at St. Ambrose College in Iowa and co-founder of The Mystic's Quarterly, does a superb job of commentary; and the result is a kind and gentle book for anyone interested in pursuing a more contemplative prayer life.
