In 1820, Liviana Mayeux is sent from her beloved New Orleans to live with her grandfather in England and learn to become a proper British lady. Grayson Hadley, Livi’s new neighbor is a grown man from a good family, but his mother has suddenly decided that he needs lessons in proper society behavior. Livi can immediately tell that they share a secret: they’re werewolves. Livi and Grayson bicker and snipe and swear they have no intention of falling in love, but of course they do, bonding over a shared irritation with proper British society. As a Regency romance, the book works well enough, but as a werewolf story it is curiously deficient. For all the talk of packs and alphas, the “mark of the beast,” and “Lycans,” no one actually shifts into werewolf form even once during the book, disappointing readers looking for paranormal action. Agent: Melissa Jeglinski, the Knight Agency. (Nov.)
