RuthAnn played basketball in college, became a teacher, married history teacher Dennis Lobo and taught her three children that ""they could be anything they wanted."" Possibly as a result, her daughter Rebecca went on to become the captain of the basketball team at the University of Connecticut, which won the national title in 1995, and the most outstanding player in that year's NCAA championship. She was named female athlete of the year by several groups and publications and has been selected for the women's national team that will represent the U.S. in this year's Olympics.
