Living with the End in Sight: Meditations on the Book of Revelation

Kendell H. Easley. B&H Publishing Group, $5.99 (128pp) ISBN 978-1-58640-001-9

Though perennially popular, the Book of Revelation has sparked some of the most controversial nuggets of biblical interpretation. The challenge for any new commentary or Bible study guide is to navigate these waters without succumbing to either prophetic scare tactics or irrelevancy. Easley succeeds admirably with this brief chapter-by-chapter devotional guide, offering the spanking-new Holman Christian Standard Bible translation of Revelation alongside some cogent reflections, word studies and ""living insights"" into the prophetic book's key phrases. The tone is decidedly evangelical (chapter 8, which describes the earthly tribulation, closes with the admonition ""Do you fully realize the peril your unsaved friends are in?""), but the commentary is biblically grounded, and the devotional format exemplary in its usefulness.
