Billy Law. Hardie Grant (Rizzoli, dist.), $34.95 (256p) ISBN 978-1-74270-381-7

Taking its title from a common Malaysian greeting, food blogger Law offers an interesting and varied approach to dining in this eclectic collection. An accomplished photographer, he buoys each page's featured dish with eye-popping images, offering inventive blends of the familiar%E2%80%94Brie en Croute; Toad in a Hole%E2%80%94as well as mashups like stir-fried Cola Chili Chicken and an epic deconstruction of Tiramisu with mascarpone foam and chocolate twigs. The latter approach to cooking makes up the lion's share of the contributions here; while are a handful of dishes like Chorizo Prawn Skewers are simple enough for novices, the majority of Law's dishes%E2%80%94Black Pudding Scotch Quail Egg Sliders, Five-spiced Duck Pancakes, and Grilled Tuna Jaw with Teriyaki Glaze%E2%80%94require a fair amount of planning and preparation, not to mention sourcing. Dishes like Perfect Roast Pork Belly in Apple Cider, Beef Cheeks Bourguignon with Cauliflower and Leek Puree, hand-pulled flat noodles, and Lamb Shank Pie, a riff on the comfort food classic, are sure to impress but whether or not they'll find a home outside of a restaurant is likely up for debate.
