How to Talk to Hot Women: The 9 Secrets to Getting and Keeping the Woman (Women) of Your Dreams

Mehow. BenBella (Perseus, dist.), $16.95 trade paper (336p) ISBN 978-1-936661-93-0

Mehow, aka Michal Pospieszalski, is a well-known pickup artist who's been so successful with the ladies, he's decided to share his secrets%E2%80%94and hopefully the love. Based in "evolutionary theory, biology, psychology, behavioral conditioning, [and] neurology," Mehow's how-to guide to seduction is mainly trashy anecdotes ("[She] was a solid 7 and she was DTF, down to f--k") seasoned with copious and complicated trademarked buzzwords and catchphrases (e.g., "PureKino%E2%84%A2, 10 Second Attraction%E2%84%A2..., Value Velocity%E2%84%A2, and Solo Winging%E2%84%A2"). In order to explain how he "went from total zero to speed-fucking in a control tower" (whatever that means), Mehow begins with the "fundamentals," like ice-breakers and learning how to build tension with humor and sarcasm, before moving on to the eponymous nine secrets. These include mastering sexual innuendo, establishing a lifestyle that will make you more attractive to women, and using "Edge Elements" to be provocative. Throughout, Mehow is mind-bogglingly derogatory toward women, and some of his advice is downright cruel and offensive: if a girl spills a drink, for example, he suggests teasing her by saying, "I've got your retard helmet in the car." If that doesn't immediately repel you, you've got a friend in Mehow. Agent: Maura Teitelbaum, Folio Literary Management. (June)
