Get a Grip: Your Journey to Get Real, Get Simple, and Get Results

Gino Wickman and Mike Paton. BenBella (IPG, dist.), $24.95 (224p) ISBN 978-1-937856-08-3

Written as the story of Swan Services, a fictional company bogged down with internal problems, Wickman and Patton show how the use of the Entrepreneurial Operating System helps turn the company around. The fable itself is a literary device to demonstrate that the Entrepreneurial Operating System can help leaders run better companies. Wickman (EOS creator) and Patton (EOS implementer) move from varous roles in the company through accountability, and discuss ratings of team members and the future vision of the company. Central to their mission is the Vision/Traction Organizer and the People Analyzer, and the way those can be used to help focus the company as it moves forward. Of course this tale ends happily, but what else is to be expected from fiction written to promote a product. There appears to be little to gain if you do not buy into the product, though there might be useful ideas for readers willing to do the digging.
