PreS-Gr 2-Gliori and her work are well known to the English-speaking markets. This very smooth translation of Polar Bolero will introduce a new population of readers to this author/illustrator. Her oversized watercolor drawings, done in rich, evocative colors, are eye-catching and sure to please. The text is quiet and simple, moving the action of the story along easily. The main character is a cuddly little bear trying hard to fall asleep. When he does, he dreams about leaving the house and finding a magic mountain where all the sleepless children go to romp. All sorts of gentle, magical creatures play with them until it is time to return to their beds. Once there, mother bear welcomes him back and lovingly tucks him into his own bed.
