In a matter-of-fact tone, he correctly emphasizes that a detailed and well-thought-out business plan and strategy are crucial to raising capital. Using a case study of a New York restaurant, the author covers the essentials of launching a business, such as how to determine the feasibility of a start-up and how to calculate and prepare budget projections. He also defines business terms and provides sample charts and tables. This book might be helpful to a would-be entrepreneur who needs direction in strategizing or professionalizing a business. However, it lacks references to web sites that offer actual business-plan worksheets and at times overstates its points. Also, because the book is technical, it lacks the inspirational language found in other business guides. This book is not the best choice for someone who has already researched and assessed a potential business and is simply ready to write a business plan, Appropriate for finance courses and recommended for libraries and bookstores with extensive collections on business development.
