Spring Design, the producer of theAlex eReader, will begin shipping pre-orders for the $399 digital readingdevice to customers today. The device can be ordered through the Spring Design website.
The Alex Reader offers a dualscreen setup--a black & white e-ink screen set above a high resolutionbacklit full color LCD screen with full web browsing, video and e-mailfunctionality-along with wi-fi and microSD card for expandable storage. The devicesupports ePub, PDF, HTML and TXT formats and a 3G version of the device will beavailable later in the year. The company also says the device will beginoffering an international language version shortly that will support Chinese,Spanish, Russian, Korean and Hebrew.
