IFILM.com Integrates Publishing Unit

Roxane Farmanfarmaian -- Publishers Weekly, 7/16/2001

Hollywood-based IFILM.com, the two-year-old movie guide Internet portal, has completed integrating Lone Eagle Publishing and Hollywood Creative Directory, two of the film industry's most respected reference publishing houses, into its operations. "Both companies complement each other, and there's very little overlap," said Jeff Black, v-p of publishing. "The result is that we are experiencing significant operational and production efficiencies while increasing revenues." Revenues were up 30% in the first two quarters of 2001 over the same period last year. IFILM acquired the two companies late last year.

IFILM established itself as an Internet movie industry resource, in addition to carrying its own programming and providing business-to-business professional services. With the acquisition of Lone Eagle and HCD, it is now a publisher of entertainment industry directories, educational and how-to titles, listings and other reference materials. IFILM also adapted HCD's and Lone Eagle's proprietary databases to allow for cross-referencing and indexing. This spring, IFILM Publishing produced the 42nd edition of the Hollywood Creative Directory, Hollywood's equivalent of LMP, renaming it Producers. It is sold primarily through direct sales; the rest of IFILM Publishing's list is distributed to the trade through NBN.
