HC UK Creates New Senior Posts

Amanda-Jane Doran -- Publishers Weekly, 7/16/2001

HarperCollins UK looks set to initiate a rebranding operation within the publishing group. Victoria Barnsley, chief executive, has made four key appointments in marketing and communications in its London office.

The positions cover the areas of internal communications and product branding in the HarperCollins empire. Susanna Frayn takes on the role of communications director, heading up corporate press and PR, and will be leaving the BBC, where she is currently publicity manager for factual TV. She has been promoting programs with serious tie-in interest, such as Simon Schama's History of Britain and Changing Rooms, the cult British interior design challenge show. She will report direct to Victoria Barnsley.

Mark Veznaver is joining HarperCollins as creative marketing director from Transworld and will be responsible for creative advertising across the group.

Venetia Davie will become children's marketing director in August, bringing a wealth of experience in brand management including stints at Fisher Price and Barbie.

The final appointment, of Jane Rose as brand manager, will assist in HarperCollins's restructuring of the reference division. Rose will be leaving Kingfisher, Chambers Harrap, where she has many years' experience in the dictionary and reference market. The latter three brand and marketing executives will report to group marketing director Alastair Giles.
