Confessions of a NYT 'Cad'

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 7/23/2001

Rick Marin is a staff writer for the New York Times, so his veracity obviously cannot be doubted. He has now written a memoir called Cad: Confessions of a Toxic Bachelor, in which he comes clean about his rakish goings-on about town when he became newly single after a bitter divorce. He describes his sexual maneuvers in a comic, self-deprecating style that, said Hyperion executive editor Leigh Haber, who bought his book, is also capable of poignancy. Haber bought North American and audio rights from agent David McCormick at IMG and will publish on (gulp!) Valentine's Day 2003. Miramax has signed up for a movie, since Marin, in the end, learns to fly right.
