'Mask Boy' Tale to Putnam

The dramatic story of a boy who suffered a rare condition that produced a huge growth on his face, and the efforts of a Boston surgeon to cure him, has been bought by senior editor Stacy Creamer at Putnam. She bought world hard/soft rights, plus audio and first serial, to The Boy Behind the Mask from agents Noah Lukeman and Irv Schwartz at AMG. The author is journalist Tom Hallman, who won a Pulitzer Prize for feature writing for the series of articles he wrote for the Oregonian about young Sam Lightner's disfiguring ailment.
