Short Takes

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 7/30/2001

Admirers of Britain's Lord Jeffrey Archer will be glad to know that his prison sentence for perjury has not deterred his publisher, HarperCollins, from sticking to its current three-book contract with him; he was seen making careful notes during his trial.... George Lucas at Pocket Books has signed a new two-book contract with Jonathan Nasaw, author of PB's recent thriller The Girls He Adored; first book up in the new world English deal signed with agent Fred Hill is called Fear Itself, and stars a villain who kidnaps people to confront them with their phobias...
