By Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 8/27/2001

Prima Tech, the computer book imprint of Prima Communications that Random House was looking to divest following its acquisition of its parent company, has been acquired by 22nd Century Inc., a holding company based in Indianapolis, Ind. 22nd Century will publish the former Prima titles under a new imprint, Premier Press. Most of the Prima Tech staff will join Premier, including Stacy Hiquet, publisher. Approximately 65 new titles are scheduled to be released under the Premier logo next year, and current editions of Prima Tech titles will be published under the Premier name as they are reprinted.

22nd Century, headed by Damon Davis, is the owner of Sams Technical Publishing, a publisher of electronic repair manuals and technology-related books. Sams's imprints include Photofact, which publishes schematic repair books, and Prompt Publications, which publishes reference books in the fields of computer hardware, electronics repair, telecommunications and connectivity.
