Phoenix's Morris & Paradis to Retire

After 30 years and 200 books, A.L. Morris, owner and publisher of Phoenix Publishing, and his partner, editor A.A. ("Lex") Paradis, have decided to retire.
"I'm getting on to 85 and A.A. Paradis will be 89 in November." The two are no longer accepting new manuscripts, but will publish two books that are in the works: a history of Christ Church in Rye, N.Y., written by a distant cousin of President Bush, and a history of the nursing school of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
One of the original print-on-demand publishers, Phoenix published at the request of groups throughout New England. The Junior League of Connecticut's The Great Estates was one of the house's most popular books. "It's been fun, and we've been able to do it because we don't have to put any kids through college," said Morris.
