'Utopia' for Doubleday

By John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 9/10/2001

Doubleday senior editor Jason Kaufman made a strong six-figure preemptive deal to land two solo novels by Lincoln Child, who usually collaborates with Douglas Preston on adventure thrillers for Warner (Riptide, The Relic). His first solo one will be Utopia , a thriller about a terrorist takeover of a high-tech theme park, with a threat to hold everyone in it hostage. Kaufman bought world rights (and paperback for Ballantine), and Doubleday will be selling the book at Frankfurt.
