On the Road for a Walk

Yet another tour launched on St. Patrick's Day was the 23-city junket undertaken by Kathleen Norris for The Cloister Walk. During her hectic road trip (which concludes on May 30), Norris finds time to visit with old friends, many of them monks and nuns, who often attend her bookstore appearances (crowds, reports publisher Riverhead, have averaged 100 customers at each stop). The author took time out last week to spend Easter with the monks of Gethsemani Abbey in Trappist, Ky., and recently had dinner with the nuns at a Benedectine Community in Lutherville, Md. The publisher reports 100,000 copies in print after three trips back to press.
