FSG/Picador to Publish Booker Winner Barker

In a deal negotiated by Gillon Aitken of Aitken &Stone, Ltd., Farrar, Straus &Giroux and Picador have acquired hard/soft U.S. publishing rights to the next three books by British novelist Pat Barker, previously published by Dutton. Barker's most recent novel, The Ghost Road, completed her WWI Regeneration Trilogy and won the Booker Prize in 1995. FSG executive v-p and editor-in-chief Jonathan Galassi plans to publish the first novel in the deal, Another World, in spring 1998, with a 1999 Picador paperback to follow.
