Fall Shabazz Book Moved to February

by Judy Quinn -- Publishers Weekly, 8/13/1997

Rob Weisbach, president and publisher of William Morrow imprint Rob Weisbach Books has just announced that From Mine Eyes, the memoir by Attallah Shabazz, the eldest daughter of Dr. Betty Shabazz and Malcolm X, has now been rescheduled from November 1997 to a new February 1998 publication.

The delay is of course due to the tragic unexpected death of Betty Shabazz on June 23, after she suffered extensive burns from a fire set by her 12-year-old grandson Malcolm. "In the next few months, Ms. Shabazz will be able to spend private time with her family before setting out on her extensive book tour," said Weisbach. Morrow spokeswoman Sharyn Rosenblum wouldn't confirm that Shabazz will address recent events specifically, but said that the book would now include "reflections on both her parents' legacies."
