Garwood's Comin' Up Roses

by Daisy Maryles, with Dick Donahue -- Publishers Weekly, 8/18/1997

Pocket Books proclaimed 1997 "The Year of Julie Garwood," and so far it seems that her many fans are in agreement. Her three novellas about the Clayborne brothers -- One Pink Rose, One White Rose and One Red Rose -- have all made the national charts in the last few months; they share an impressive 4.5 million copies in print. (Garwood's bestselling For the Roses introduced these stalwart siblings to readers, TV viewers enjoyed a spring Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, Rose Hill, based on the novel.) The Clayborne adventures will be woven together in a dramatic finish in Come the Spring, a Pocket hardcover to be published in November with a planned 400,000-copy first printing -- Garwood's largest hardcover figure ever. Garwood began her writing career in 1985, and her books now total more than 13 million copies in print.
