What's the favorite American bestseller that also appears on more international bestseller charts than any title? It's first fiction, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy from Random House. Last month, according to the newsletter Publishing Trends from Market Partners, it was on the charts of six countries-U.K., Germany, Italy, Canada, Australia and South Africa (where it was #1). Veteran bestselling author Sidney Sheldon topped two international December charts -- Brazil and India -- with The Best Laid Plans.
