Harold "Terry" McGraw III has been chosen to succeed Joseph Dionne as CEO of the McGraw-Hill Cos. effective April 29, 1998. Dionne, who has served as CEO since 1983, will continue as chairman.
McGraw joined MHC in 1980 and has held a number of different positions throughout the company. In 1993 he was named president and COO, and has been responsible for the company's three operating segments: educational and professional publishing; financial services; and information and media services. McGraw is the son of Harold McGraw Jr., who retired in 1988 after 41 years with the company, the last 10 as MHC chairman.
