New Execs at Crown

Crown Books moved to shore up its management ranks last week, announcing the appointment of two new executives. Steven Pate, who has served as operations director for Barnes & Noble Inc. as well as Dalton, has been named director of operations for Crown. Stephen Petty has been named senior v-p and CFO for the company. Previously, he held financial positions with several other retailers, including several divisions of the May company.Earlier in the month, Crown announced that Richard Stone, who had been serving as acting CEO of Dart and Crown, had been named the permanent chairman and CEO of the two operations.
