Kiener Moves Up At News Corp.

J Kiener, who joined HarperCollins in 1996 as chief operating officer, has been promoted to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer of News America Publishing Group (NAPG). NAPG was formed last October to bring News Corp.'s different U.S. print operations-HC, TV Guide, Murdoch Magazine Distribution, the Weekly Standard and News America Digitial Publishing-under one person, former HC head Anthea Disney.

At NAPG, Kiener will oversee the business operations and financial management of all the group's divisions, and at present there are no plans to replace him as COO of HC. Kiener will continue to oversee the business and operations management of the book unit from his new role at NAPG.
