The folks at Crown are thrilled with their latest bestseller, especially since it has been almost a full year in the making. Landing in the #3 hardcover slot is Suze Orman's The 9 Steps to Financial Freedom, first published last April. A 22-city book tour, numerous appearances on QVC and lots of print coverage put the book on business bestseller lists for much of last summer. This month PBS aired a two-hour special on Orman and her book and, as part of the promotion, the author has visited 22 PBS affiliates around the country for their pledge drives. The author was also did a half-hour appearance on Oprah on March 16, and she did three more QVC shows in the last two weeks. Orman also served as editor-in-chief for Conde Nast's Currency, a financial supplement that was sent to every Conde Nast magazine subscriber in March. Crown happily noted that there are now more than 500,000 copies in print after 17 trips to press.
