Clain Named Senior Editor at LB

Little, Brown has named Judy Clain senior editor of its adult publishing group. Clain, who will start at LB some time in May, had most recently served as a production executive at Mandalay Entertainment, where her credits include the buying of and development of the film based on Jacquelyn Mitchard's Deep End of the Ocean, which is set to be released this fall. Prior to joining Mandalay, Clain was an agent with Michael Siegel and Associates.

At LB, Clain will focus on acquiring strong commercial fiction titles as well as some nonfiction, said Bill Phillips, LB's v-p and editor-in-chief, Clain will report to Phillips. "We weren't looking to hire some one from outside the industry, but when we found Judy we felt she could bring a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to the house," Phillips told PW.
