Merriam Webster Forms Value Div'n

Merriam-Webster has decided to enter the field of value publishing by creating the imprint Federal Street Press, a line of language-reference books. It is expected that the imprint will expand the availability of these reference titles and cover a wider variety of price points and distribution outlets.

Deborah Hastings, formerly vice-president and publisher at Smithmark Publishers, has been named publisher. She will oversee all aspects of product development, design, production, sales, and marketing and fulfillment. The first publication list is expected to reach the marketplace in January 1999.
