Shaffer to Join Thomson Corp.

The Thompson Corp. has named David Shaffer an executive v-p of TTC and president and CEO of its Thomson Corporation Publishing International (TCPI) unit. Shaffer, who begin at Thomson April 15, replaces J. Gordon Paul, who resigned from Thomson last summer.

In his new role, Shaffer will be responsible for Thomson's activities in education, health-care information and reference, scientific and business information publishing. Prior to joining Thomson, Shaffer had been chairman and CEO of Jostens Learning Corp. and had also served as president of McGraw-Hill's educational and professional publishing group.
