WK Extends Offer For Waverly

While Wolters Kluwer's pending acquisition of Waverly (News, Feb. 16) has not attracted the media attention of Bertelsmann's deal for Random House, the purchase has drawn the interest of the Justice Department. Late last month, WK announced that it was extending its tender offer for Waverly's outstanding shares until May 19; the offer had been set to expire on April 30. WK said the extension will allow it to "fully meet" a request for information on the deal as part of the Hart-Scott-Rodino review. Despite the delay, WK still expects its acquisition of Waverly to be approved.
