Hot Deals: Another NPR Book Deal Judy Quinn -- 6/8/98
Following on Little, Brown executive editor Michael Pietsch's rumored seven-figure multibook deal for National Public Radio commentator Lorraine Johnson-Coleman comes Villard executive editor Bruce Tracy's lower but rumored substantial six-figure deal for two books from R. Scott Brunner, also a commentator on this great-for-books radio station. Brunner, an employee of the Mississippi Association of Realtors, has become an NPR favorite ever since he started phoning into All Things Considered show and now is a regular on the show. The first book, to be published in fall 1999, is Due South, a collection of essays. Agent Jimmy Vines conducted the three-publisher auction.
