Freimuth Named Publisher, Times Books

Carrie Freimuth, who for the past six years has been vice-president and associate publisher at Times Books, has been named publisher. She previously held positions with the subsidiary rights department at St. Martin's Press and the trade sales and marketing division of Random House.

In a related appointment, Peter Bernstein was named to the newly created position of vice-president, publisher-at-large for the Random House Information Group. He had been vice-president and publisher of Times Books.In his new capacity, Bernstein will work with the publishers and editors in the Information Group -- which includes Discovery Books, Princeton Review, Sierra Club Adult Books, Random House Reference and Information Publishing and Times Books -- to evaluate publishing opportunities. He will also coordinate with group president Walter Weintz to identify new business possibilities.
