New Publicity Director for Pantheon

Sophie Cottrell has been named publicity director for Pantheon Books, an imprint of the Knopf Publishing Group. She succeeds Meryl Zegarek, who has left the company. Cottrell was formerly associate director of promotion at Knopf. She will report to Janice Goldklang, Pantheon v-p and publishing director.Knopf president Sonny Mehta used Cottrell's appointment as an opportunity to quell persistent rumors that the imprint may be closed. Mehta noted that he is confident that Cottrell will contribute to "the ongoing success of the imprint, whose list is richer and more impressive than ever before."
