David Reuther to North-South

Cindi Di Marzo -- Publishers Weekly, 3/29/1999

David Reuther, former senior v-p and publisher of Morrow Junior Books, will be heading a new imprint at North-South Books. The still-unnamed imprint will debut in fall 2000 and will publish 25 hardcovers and 30 paperbacks per year, consisting of picture books, nonfiction and fiction for middle-graders and young adults.

Among the authors with whom Reuther has previously worked are Beverly Cleary, Jules Feiffer, James Howe, Johanna Hurwitz, Louis Sachar, David Small and Steven Kellogg. "My authors now have the opportunity of being published in as many as 15 countries around the world," Reuther noted, referring to North-South's distribution system.

North-South president and publisher Marc Cheshire commented that the addition of Reuther will expand the range of books North-South publishes with an increasing number of American authors and artists. North-South is the English-language imprint of Switzerland's Nord-Süd Verlag.
