FSG Leads Pulitzer Winners

After capturing three National Book Awards this year, Farrar, Straus &Giroux continued its award-winning ways by picking up two Pulitzer Prizes. Michael Cunningham, fresh off his PEN/Faulkner prize, won the 1999 Pulitzer for fiction; The Hours, the author's third novel, is a nod to Virginia Woolf. FSG's John McPhee also won a Pulitzer, in general nonfiction, for the geology title Annals of the Former World.Mark Strand's haunting Blizzard of One (Knopf), which wasn't nominated for an NBA, earned the Pulitzer for p try.
Other literature prize winners were Gotham: A History of New York City to 1898 by Edwin G. Burrows and Mike Wallace (Oxford Univ. Press) for history and, in the biography category, Lindbergh by A. Scott Berg (Putnam).
