CDS Lands First Publisher

Client Distribution Services Inc., the distribution company formed last month (News, May 3), has signed its first publisher. Harvard Business School Press will use CDS to handle domestic retail sales of its new and backlist titles beginning June 1.

The press is currently distributed by Random House's Ballantine sales group, and Random will continue to distribute its titles until September 1, when CDS is expected to complete the deal to acquire Random's Jackson, Tenn., warehouse.

RH Still Distributing

The agreement between CDS and Random involves the purchase of only the Tennessee warehouse and d s not include the contracts of any existing Random clients. After September 1, Random will continue to distribute for publishers who have ongoing contracts.
